Pyrimidine and their derivatives are endlessly pulling attention of the medicinal chemists in view of long and notable history extending from the day of their discovery as, important constituents of nucleic acid. Pyrimidine and its derivatives demonstrate a diverse array of biological and pharmacological activities including anticonvulsant, antibacterial, antifungal, antiviral and anticancer properties. Owing to the significant biological activities, pyrimidine derivatives have drawn more and more attention in the synthesis and bioactivities research. This review summarizes the recent advances in the synthesis and biological activities investigations of pyrimidine derivatives. This review also helps the researcher to study the synthesis patterns for pyrimidine derivatives and their activities.
